Introduction | phenyldimethylchlorosilane is a commercially available organic synthon in common organic solvents such as dichloromethane, dimethyl sulfoxide, N,N-dimethylformamide, ethyl acetate and other good solubility. The compound belongs to a kind of chlorosilane, which is often used as a hydroxyl protecting group in organic synthesis. |
synthesis method | at 0 °c to dichlorodimethylsilane (1.15 ML, 9.6 mmol) to a solution in Et2O(5 ml) was added dropwise (phenyl) magnesium bromide, which was prepared from 4-bromobenzene (1.0 mL, 9.6 mmol) and magnesium powder particles (0.25g, 10.6 mmol) prepared. The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 24 hours. After completion of the reaction, pentane was added to the reaction mixture, the resulting precipitate was filtered off, and the volatile substances were evaporated by rotary evaporation, the spin-dried residue was purified by vacuum distillation (85 °c/6 mmHg) to give Chloro (phenyl) dimethylsilane. |
