Physical and Chemical Properties | Ethazol, also known as chromone, is also called "4-chroenone" and "2, 3-benzo-4-pyrone". Soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene and chloroform, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid blue purple fluorescence, the alcohol solution and iodine red. Boiling sublimation, distillation does not decompose, volatile in the vapor. Can be fuming sulfuric acid (containing 50% sulfur trioxide) decomposition. Azeotrope with sodium methoxide to give 2-hydroxyacetophenone and formic acid, in a small amount of carbon disulfide with 1mol of bromine, mainly to 2,3-Dibromo benzo dihydropyran-4-one. |
