dosanexmg - Introduction
METOXURON(METOXURON) is a commonly used herbicide. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of the compound:
Nature:
-Chemical Name: METOXURON
-Molecular formula: C9H10N4O2
-Molecular weight: 214.20g/mol
-Appearance: White crystalline solid
-Melting point: 201-204 degrees Celsius
-Solubility: Solubility in saturated aqueous solution is 6ppm; Soluble in organic solvents such as Ketones, Esters, and aromatic hydrocarbons
-Density: 1.44g/cm³
-Stability: Stable under common environmental conditions
Use:
METOXURON is mainly used as a farmland herbicide, which can effectively control the growth of a variety of herbaceous weeds. It can be absorbed into the leaves and roots of plants, interfere with the photosynthesis and energy metabolism of plants, and thus lead to the death of weeds. Because of its broad-spectrum herbicidal properties, METOXURON is usually used for weeding of wheat, corn, vegetables, fruit trees and other crops.
Method:
The preparation of METOXURON can be obtained by the reaction of p-diyl nitrouracil (DCMU) with formyl chloride. Specific preparation methods can be found in the Handbook of Synthetic Organic Chemistry or the relevant literature.
Safety Information:
- METOXURON is a toxic substance. Use should follow relevant safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment to avoid contact with skin, eyes or respiratory tract.
-Exposure to high concentrations may cause toxic symptoms such as headache, eye pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Inhalation of high concentrations of METOXURON may cause breathing difficulties and lung damage.
-Ingestion of METOXURON may cause poisoning and should be avoided or swallowed.
- METOXURON is toxic to aquatic organisms and may be hazardous to the environment. Care should be taken to avoid its entry into the water body during use.
-Use METOXURON containers should be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, away from fire and oxidizing agents.
