| preparation | 5,5 '-dimethyl-2, 2'-bipyridine 8(4.10mg,0.023mmol,15mol%), MgCl2(28.4mg,0.300mmol,200mol%), Ni(acac)2(5.90mg,0-023mmmol,15mol%) and zinc powder (29.4mg, 0.450mmol,300mol%) was loaded into a flame-dried Schlenk tube equipped with a magnetic stir bar. The tube was transferred to a dry glove box to which TBAI(27.7 mg,0.075 mmol,50 mol%) was added. The tubing was covered with a rubber septum and then removed from the glove box. After the reaction mixture was stirred at 30°C under N2 atmosphere for 12 h, it was loaded directly onto a silica gel column without work-up.
