Use | 3-methoxyacetophenone, also known as M-methoxyacetophenone; 3 '-methoxyacetophenone, can be used as a chemical intermediate, for organic synthesis and Experimental Research. |
Environmental hazards | 3-methoxyacetophenone may be harmful to the environment, and special attention should be paid to water bodies. |
preparation | 5,5 '-dimethyl-2, 2'-bipyridine 8(4.10mg,0.023mmol,15mol%), MgCl2(28.4mg,0.300mmol,200mol%), Ni(acac)2(5.90mg,0-023mmmol,15mol%) and zinc powder (29.4mg, 0.450mmol,300mol%) was loaded into a flame-dried Schlenk tube equipped with a magnetic stir bar. The tube was transferred to a dry glove box to which TBAI(27.7 mg,0.075 mmol,50 mol%) was added. The tubing was covered with a rubber septum and then removed from the glove box. Acidic chloride (0.225mmol,150mol%), methanesulfonate (0.150mmol,100mol%), THF(0.8ml) and CH3CN(0.2ml) were then added via syringe. After the reaction mixture was stirred at 30°C under N2 atmosphere for 12 h, it was loaded directly onto a silica gel column without work-up. The residue in the reaction vessel was flushed with a small amount of DCM. Flash column chromatography (SiO2: ethyl acetate in hexane). 1-(3-methoxyphenyl) ethanone (38). 21 3-methoxybenzoyl chloride (0.225mmol,150mol%) and methyl sulfonate (0.150mmol,100mol%) were used. After purification by column chromatography (SiO2:10% ethyl acetate in hexane), 3-methoxyacetophenone was isolated as a colorless oil (10.8mg, yield 48%). |
