use | o-methoxybenzaldehyde is used to synthesize stilbene and dihydrostilbene derivatives as potential anti-cancer drugs. It is also used to synthesize highly functionalized pyrrolidine as a potent angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. This product is an organic synthesis intermediate, used in the production of spices and medicines. O-methoxy formaldehyde can be used in production. O-methoxybenzaldehyde can be used to produce the adrenergic drug Qiaoxining. It is used as an intermediate of perfume, medicine and fluorescent whitening agent It is the main intermediate for synthesizing fluorescent whitening agent CBS, triphenylmethane dye and moth prevention agent N 2-methoxybenzaldehyde is an organic synthesis intermediate, which is used in the production of perfume and medicine. O-methoxy formaldehyde can be used in production. O-methoxybenzaldehyde can be used in the production of the adrenergic drug Qiankening. |
Production method | Made by methylation reaction of salicylaldehyde with dimethyl sulfate. Mix 3kg of sodium hydroxide into a 30% aqueous solution, add 12.2kg of salicylaldehyde and 80L of water solution under stirring, and heat until boiling. Add 12.9kg of dimethyl sulfate slowly, keep the reaction solution under reflux for about 3 hours, continue to reflux for 2-3 hours, cool the oil layer, wash with 5% sodium hydroxide solution, then wash with water until pH 8, add anhydrous potassium carbonate and dry. After filtering out the desiccant, it is distilled under reduced pressure to collect the fraction at 120 ℃(2.0kPa), which is o-methoxybenzaldehyde. The methylation reaction can also be carried out in the solvent toluene with 60% yields. |
