Diacetamide(Diacetamide) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H7NO2. It is a colorless crystalline solid that decomposes at certain temperatures and pressures.
Diacetamide is a high boiling point solvent, soluble in water, ethanol and ether solvents. It has an ester odor and is easily decomposed in a humid environment.
In industry, Diacetamide is mainly used as an intermediate for the production of quaternary ammonium salts. It can be prepared by the reaction of ethanolamine and acetic anhydride to produce by-product ammonium sulfate, which has application value in plant fertilizer.
In the laboratory, Diacetamide can be used as a protective agent for amino alcohols and reagents in organic synthesis.
