| production method | 40g of tetra-n-butyl iodide is dissolved into 90 ml of absolute methanol, 20g of pure silver oxide in fine powder form is added, sealed and shaken violently for 1 hour. Take a few milliliters of the mixture and centrifuge to check whether it contains I-. If it is a positive test, add 2 grams of silver oxide and oscillate for another 30 minutes. In the above reaction, ethanol can be used to replace methanol, but tetra-n-butyl iodide is relatively stable in methanol. |
