PAPI (crude MDI) was produced in the same manner as MDI except that the ratio of the amounts of aniline and hydrochloric acid was smaller. The synthesis of PAPI, like MDI, was carried out in two steps. First from aniline and formaldehyde solution (formalin) in the role of Lewis acid, condensation synthesis containing a certain amount of diamine polyamine mixture, and then this kind of polyamine compounds by phosgenation reaction to get PAPI. In the synthesis of polyamine compounds, the content of diamine should be controlled at about 50%. In general, it can be achieved by adjusting the ratio of the amount of aniline and formaldehyde to the two raw materials, that is, the amount of the substance. It is determined that about 50% diamines exist in the synthesized polyamine compound when the molar ratio of aniline to formaldehyde is 1:75. Therefore, the raw material component ratio relationship, generally make the ratio of the amount of aniline and formaldehyde in the range of 1.6~2.O change, polyamine synthesis of other operating conditions similar to MDA operating conditions. For the production process of MDI and PAPI, the required polyamine must be a polyamine compound containing 60% ~ 75% diamine, the key is also achieved by changing the ratio of the amount of aniline and formaldehyde feed material. Once crystallization occurs, it should be heated and melted at 70-80 °c before use, and stirred well. Should avoid long-term storage above 50 ℃, In order to avoid the formation of insoluble solids and increase the viscosity. The shelf life of PAPI is 1 year under suitable storage conditions.
