Use:
Methyltributylammonium bromide are often used as phase transfer catalysts in organic synthesis reactions. It can promote the reaction between the two phases (e. g. aqueous and organic phases), helping to improve the reaction speed and yield. In addition, it is also useful as a surfactant, an antistatic agent, and an ionic compound for pharmaceuticals.
Preparation Method:
The preparation method of Methyltributylammonium bromide can be obtained by the reaction of methylated tributylamine and hydrogen bromide. The methylated tributylamine is first reacted with hydrogen bromide in a suitable solvent to form the Methyltributylammonium bromide and give the hydrogen bromide acid. After the reaction, the product may be extracted and purified by an appropriate method.
