Polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride is generally prepared by reacting hexamethylene diamine with a salt of dicyandiamide to produce a dicyandiamide salt of hexamethylene diamine, which is then treated with hexamethylene diamine and 36% hydrochloric acid.

1. Preparation of Hexanediamine Hydrochloride

Add ethanol and 1,6-hexanediamine to the reactor, and add hydrochloric acid dropwise with stirring. During the dropwise addition process, maintain the temperature below 28 ℃ until the solution pH value is 5. After dripping, continue the reaction for 1 hour, then cool to 0 ℃, filter, and dry to obtain hexanediamine hydrochloride.

2. Preparation of polyhexamethylene biguanidine hydrochloride

Add dicyandiamide and hexanediamine hydrochloride with a molar ratio of 1:1.1 to the reaction kettle, add a certain amount of n-butanol as the solvent, stir and reflux at 170 ℃ for 12 hours, and steam out n-butanol to obtain the product.
