2-Mercapto-5-methoxybenzothiazole - Introduction
It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H7NOS. It has a white to yellow crystalline solid, is soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and ketones, and is sparingly soluble in water.
This compound is commonly used as a vulcanization accelerator for the vulcanization reaction during rubber processing. It can accelerate the crosslinking reaction between sulfur and rubber molecules, and improve the wear resistance and aging resistance of rubber. In addition, it can also be used as a waste water treatment agent, with certain chemical intermediates and antioxidant properties.
The preparation method is mainly obtained by reacting 1-mercapto-2-methoxybenzothiazole with hydrogen sulfide. The reaction conditions are relatively mild and are often carried out under acidic conditions.
