Introduction | 4-bromo-8-methylquinoline is a pharmaceutical intermediate, which can be obtained by bromination of 8-methylquinoline-4-ol and phosphorus tribromide. It has been reported that it can be used to prepare pyranopyrazoles and pyrazolopyridines immunomodulators for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. |
application | 4-bromo -8-methylquinoline can be used as an organic synthesis intermediate and pharmaceutical intermediate, mainly used in laboratory research and development process and chemical production process. |
preparation | 8-methylquinoline -4-alcohol (500mg,3.14mmol,1.00 equivalent) and N,N-dimethylformamide (20mL) were added to a 100mL round bottom flask. Then phosphorus tribromide (851 mg,3.14mmol,1.20 equivalent) was added drop by drop under room temperature stirring, and the obtained solution was stirred at room temperature for 15 hours. Then add water/ice (100mL) to quench the reaction. Use sodium hydroxide (2mol/L) to adjust the pH of the solution to 10. The solids were collected by filtration to obtain 660mg(95%) of 4-bromo-8-methylquinoline, which was a light yellow solid. |
