Nature:
2-Bromo-5-methyl-1, 4-benzoquinone is a yellow solid with a pungent pungent odor. It is soluble in organic solvents such as ether, ethanol and toluene at normal temperature, but hardly soluble in water.

Preparation Method:
2-Bromo-5-methyl-1, 4-benzoquinone can be obtained by reacting 1,4-benzoquinone with sodium hypobromite. First, 1,4-benzoquinone and sodium hypobromite are dissolved in absolute ethanol and heated to react to form a brominated product. Then, 2-bromo-5-methyl-1, 4-benzoquinone was obtained by crystallization and separation purification.
