16045-92-4 - Introduction
Chloroducinic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H7ClO2. The following is an introduction to the nature, use, preparation and safety information of chlorosuccinic acid:
Nature:
- chlorosuccinic acid is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a pungent odor.
-It is a corrosive substance that can react with water and produce toxic gases.
- chlorosuccinic acid is soluble in water and organic solvents.
Use:
- chlorosuccinic acid is mainly used in organic synthesis reactions, such as esterifying agent and carboxylating agent.
-It can also be used to prepare intermediate compounds in medicines and pesticides, such as glyphosate (a herbicide).
Method:
-The preparation of chlorosuccinic acid is usually accomplished by chlorinating N-butyric acid (Butanoic acid). In the reaction, n-butyric acid reacts with thionyl chloride (SOCl2) to generate chlorobutyric acid.
-chemical equation: CH3CH2CH2COOH SO2 → ch3ch2cocl SO2 HCl
-Subsequently, the generated chlorobutyric acid is neutralized with alkali to obtain chlorosuccinic acid.
Safety Information:
- chlorosuccinic acid is a corrosive substance, please pay attention to safe operation.
-Avoid contact with skin and eyes and wear appropriate protective gear.
-During operation, ensure good ventilation conditions and avoid inhaling gas or steam.
-should be stored away from fire and oxidant, stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place.
Please note that the use of chemical substances should follow the correct laboratory safety procedures, and evaluate and take appropriate safety measures according to the specific situation.
