Use:

Method:
2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethanone can be synthesized using benzoic acid as the starting material:
1. First, benzoic acid is reacted with brominated sulfoxide to obtain 4-bromobenzoic acid;
2. then, 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl) acetic acid is prepared by esterification of 4-bromobenzoic acid and 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid;
3. Finally, 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl) acetic acid was converted to 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethanone by an acid-catalyzed transesterification reaction.
