| preparation | 3-amino-cyclohexane -2-ketene (1901g,17.1mol) was dissolved in ethanol (11.5L) and NaOH(20% aqueous solution, 275mL) in a 20L autoclave. Raney nickel (366g,4.28mol,0.25 equivalent) was added and the reactor was purged with hydrogen. Using TLC(20% MeOH / CH2Cl2,Rf starting material = 0.5,Rf product = 0.14) to monitor the reaction process until no more starting material is visible, filter the reaction mixture to remove Raney nickel, and Concentrate in Vacuo to obtain a yellow oil, which crystallizes when standing, to obtain a hygroscopic yellow solid (1945g,99%). HRMS(FAB) for C6H13NO H is calculated as 116.1070. |
