Use:
PhHMDS is widely used in the field of organic chemistry, especially as a catalyst for strong alkali agents and silicon sources. It has the following main uses:
-Strong alkaline agent: PhHMDS can be used as a non-aqueous alkaline agent for deprotonation and alkaline reagents.
-Highly active metal silane reagents: PhHMDS can be reacted with metal halides to prepare highly active metal silane reagents, such as aluminum silane and zinc silane, catalysts for organic synthesis reactions.

Preparation Method:
The preparation of PhHMDS is generally carried out by the following steps:
1. the reaction of hexyl aluminum bromide and phenyl red blue to generate 6-hexyl benzene.
2. 6-hexylbenzene reacts with dimethylchlorosilane to generate 6-hexyl-dimethylchlorosilane.
3. Finally, 6-hexyl-dimethylchlorosilane is reacted with dimethylaniline to produce PhHMDS.
