In vivo study | In almost all rats, a single intraperitoneal injection of Pentylenetetrazol(45 mg/kg) induced a clonic convulsion within 3 min. However, 11% of the rats required a second injection for clonus/cramps. Each rat developed muscle twitching and myoclonus after a clonic or tonic-clonic seizure. Injection of Pentylenetetrazol significantly changed the mRNA levels of the GABAA receptor subunits. Clonus elicited by a single injection of PTZ was correlated with rapid changes in GABAA receptors. |
