N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine - Introduction

N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C14H15N. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of the compound:

Nature:
N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a special aroma. It is a relatively stable compound that can be dissolved in organic solvents. It has a melting point of -47°C and a boiling point of 306°C.

Use:
N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine are mainly used as reducing agents in organic synthesis reactions, and can also be used as optical brighteners, intermediates of luminescent materials and chemical analysis reagents.

Method:
N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine can be synthesized by the reaction of benzidine and formaldehyde. First, benzidine is reacted with formaldehyde to produce 4,4 '-methylene-benzidine. Then, methylation is carried out with methyl magnesium bromide or methyl sulfoxide to give N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine.

Safety Information:
N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine in general conditions on the human body is safer, but still need to pay attention to protective measures. It may be irritating to the eyes and skin, so it is necessary to wear appropriate protective equipment to avoid direct contact. During operation, ensure good ventilation and avoid inhaling its vapor. For inadvertent exposure or inhalation of the compound, rinse immediately with water and seek medical help. In addition, N,N-Dimethyl-4-biphenylamine need to be stored properly, sealed in a dry, cool place, away from fire and oxidizing agents.
