Ethanol, 2-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]-, 1-(4-methylbenzensulfonate), chemical formula C10H15O6S, is an organic compound. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
Ethanol, 2-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]-, 1-(4-Methylbenzenesulfonate) is a colorless to light yellow liquid with low volatility. It is stable at room temperature and pressure, soluble in non-polar organic solvents such as ether and toluene.
Use:
Ethanol, 2-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]-, 1-(4-Methylbenzenesulfonate) is mainly used as a raw material in synthesis and organic chemical reactions. It can be used as a reagent for transesterification or condensation reactions, and as a synthetic intermediate for umbrella compounds. In addition, in the field of pharmaceutical research and agriculture, it also has certain application value.
Method:
Ethanol, 2-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]-, 1-(4-Methylbenzenesulfonate) can be prepared by sulfonation of ethylene glycol. First, the p-toluenesulfonate is reacted with ethanol or other monomer activating agent to produce the p-toluenesulfonate esterified transesterified product. Then, by reacting ethylene glycol with the product, a sulfonation reaction is carried out to obtain a final product.
Safety Information:
Ethanol, 2-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]-, 1-(4-Methylbenzenesulfonate) is generally less toxic under normal conditions of use. However, it is still a chemical, and correct operating methods and safety measures should be observed. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as protective gloves and safety goggles when handling this compound. At the same time, the experimental environment should be kept well ventilated and direct contact with skin, eyes or respiratory tract should be avoided. If accidentally exposed or accidentally eaten, seek medical attention immediately. The safety data sheet of the compound should be read carefully before use.
