Overview | Berbamine (Berbamine) is a bisbenzyl isoquinoline alkaloid found in Berberis plants. It is known that the medical effect of berbamine is mainly to increase white blood cells. It is used for leukopenia caused by various reasons. During radiotherapy and chemotherapy for cancer patients, it can also prevent leukopenia. |
biological activity | Berbamine (BA, BBM) is a natural product of bisbenzyl isoquinoline isolated from Chinese herbal medicine yellow reed wood. It is a novel inhibitor of bcr/abl with potent anti-leukemia activity and an inhibitor of NF-κB. Berbamine (BA, BBM) inhibits the growth of cancer cells and induces apoptosis of human myeloma cells by targeting Ca²/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII). |
