Fludrocortisone acetate (9α-Fludrocortisone acetate) is an orally active synthetic mineralocorticoid. Fludrocortisone acetate can effectively control sodium retention. Fludrocortisone acetate is used in studies of cardiac injury, adrenal insufficiency and orthostatic hypotension. Fludrocortisone acetate is more effective than glucocorticoid Triamcinolone acetonide (HY-B0636) in restoring quiescent morphology and reducing membrane permeability in Phorbol-12-myristate-acetate (PMA)-stimulated choroidal endothelial cells (CECs)[1]. Fludrocortisone acetate (250 μg/kg/day, p.o.) combined with 1% saline (NaCl) solution induces cardiac injury in rats, with reducing antioxidant enzyme (GSH, SOD and CAT) activities[2].
