tritert-butylsilicon - Introduction
Tri-t-butylsilane (abbreviation: TBS) is an organosilicon compound having the chemical formula (CH3) 3c6h4sih, wherein (CH3)3C represents a butyl group. The following is an introduction to the nature, use, preparation and safety information of TBS:
Nature:
-Appearance: colorless liquid
-Boiling point: About 110 ℃
-Melting point:-58 ℃
-Density: about 0.81 g/mL
-Stability: TBS is sensitive to oxygen and water, and you need to pay attention to prevent contact with them during storage and use.
Use:
-Protecting group: TBS is a commonly used protecting group. In organic synthesis, TBS ether is generated by reacting with hydroxyl group to protect hydroxyl group from other reactions. In organic synthesis, the chemical reaction of other functional groups can be selectively carried out by using the TBS protecting group, and then the TBS protecting group is removed at an appropriate time to restore the hydroxyl group.
-starting material: TBS can also be used as a starting material for other organic synthesis reactions, such as the synthesis of Silicon organic compounds with special properties.
Method:
The synthesis of TBS is generally obtained by the reaction of Triethylsilane and tert-butyl alkyl lithium (t-BuLi) at low temperature. For specific synthetic steps, reference may be made to the organic synthesis literature.
Safety Information:
- TBS is highly irritating and corrosive and should be avoided in contact with skin and eyes.
-wear appropriate protective gloves, goggles and protective clothing when using TBS.
-Avoid inhaling TBS steam or mist, and ensure that the working environment is well ventilated.
-when storing and using TBS, keep it away from fire and heat sources, store it in a closed container, and separate it from incompatible substances such as oxygen and water.
