4-(benzyloxy)benzenesulfonyl chloride is an organic compound with the chemical formula C≡H≡ClO₂ S. It is a colorless to yellowish organic solid, soluble in organic solvents such as methylene chloride and dimethyl sulfoxide.
4-(benzyloxy)benzenesulfonyl chloride are commonly used in sulfonylation reactions in organic synthesis reactions. It can be used as a protective reagent for substituents, and can protect active functional groups such as amino, hydroxyl and thiol, thereby preventing them from participating in other chemical reactions. In some cases, it can also be used as a chlorinating agent.
